Bill Miller, 75, of Frederick County, Virginia passed away Sunday, October 29, 2017 at Winchester Medical Center surrounded by family.
Mr. Miller was born in 1942 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Thomsene and William Miller, Sr. He was a graduate of Bethel Park High School, Bethel Park, Pennsylvania. Mr. Miller was a veteran of the United States Army stationed in Korea during the Vietnam era, achieving the rank of SP4. He was proprietor of Miller Ace Hardware in Stephens City, Virginia. Mr. Miller was quite an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a NASCAR fan, a Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Pirates fan who used to watch baseball with his Dad. His greatest joy was his family, most of all his grandchildren. He insisted that all birthdays and holidays be celebrated at the family’s home and always looked forward to family dinners. Mr. Miller loved going to the farm in Monterey, Virginia. A loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother, he is loved and will be missed by family and friends.
He married Lois Ann Woods on August 13, 1966 in Arlington, Virginia.
Surviving with his beloved wife of 51 years is daughter, Stacey Burtlow (Tie) of Winchester, Virginia; sons, Billy Miller (Heather) of Stephenson, Virginia and Greg Miller (Tara) of Purcellville, Virginia; grandchildren, Austin, Clayton, and Carter Miller; Nicole and Brock Burtlow; Ashley and Adrienne Horvath; and a sister, Mary Ann Lassige (Henry) of Finleyville, Pennsylvania.
Mr. Miller was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Morgan Miller.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 2 pm to 3 pm on Saturday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with a memorial service to follow at 3 pm with Pastor Billy Gram officiating.

Only knew Mr. Miller for a year while I worked at his store. He would come in the store and say hi to everyone. Always made sure the employees were ok no matter who they were. It was a pleasure to know you Mr. Miller. You were a family man and someone who has worked hard their entire life. May you rest in peace. My and prayers to Billy and family. Stay strong and united.

We feel privileged to have known Bill through our dear son-in-law, Greg. Bill's large, loving and warm family says all you need to know about how well loved he was. We will miss his smiling face.

Dear Lois Greg Billy and the dear family of Bill, I send my deepest sympathy to your family on your loss of Bill. I shared life with you in Clifton with your dear son Greg, who stands for all the best of Bill's fine dedicated family qualities. I am so proud to have shared this time together. Bill had the great Pittsburgh spirit, and I understand the loyalty to the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates. I also grow up in Pittsburgh next door at Mt. Lebanon High School celebrating my 45th class reunion this fall. Pittsburgh fans will miss his cheer too. Thank you Tara for the FB album of the special pictures & sweet moments of time that made your family together so special. I am glad to have known Bill, and may the tears of loss remind you of the joy and love you spent together. May all your friends and family share comfort and support you give you peace at this difficult loss. I am sorry I will not be able to attend Bill's celebration of Life, and hear the many stories of joy Bill he shared with everyone. Those are the memories that will soften the grief of loss. I send my deepest sympathy to you all. God's Peace and Love be with you.

Bill Miller was a great man and boss. I had worked for him for 11 years at the hardware store. We had lots of talks and he had seen me through a lot in those years. He will truly be missed and forever loved in our hearts. My prayers go out to his family may he Rest In Peace.

My family and I are so saddened by what has happened. We knew Bill, Lois and the family from here in Mill Gap, VA and always enjoyed meeting and talking about the past and plans for the future. We feel blessed to know Bill, each day is a blessing!

The entire Hollis family sends their sincerest sympathies to Lois, Billy, Stacey, Greg and families. We will hold 40 plus years of memories both business and personal in a very special place. It was quite a ride! Thanks Bill for connecting in a way only special people can.

I remember working with Bill at Newton Asphalt in Alexandria, VA. He always had a smile on his face. I saw him several times at the hardware store in Stephens City, and he was always kind, helpful and happy. He will be missed by many.
