Graveside Service

Betty Mae Jenkins Hibbard, 81, of Frederick County, Virginia died Saturday, January 28, 2017 at her home with her family at her side.
Mrs. Hibbard was born in 1935 in Winchester, Virginia, the daughter of the late Oscar and Virgie Jenkins. She worked at Shenandoah Apple Co-Op prior to working in housekeeping at Winchester Medical Center from where she retired. Mrs. Hibbard attended Hayfield Assembly of God Church. She was a member of Winchester Moose Lodge 1283, also loved by the ladies of the Eagles 824.
Her husband, Dennis Gabby Hibbard, whom she married on February 20, 1965 in Winchester, Virginia preceded her in death on March 12, 2005.
Surviving are daughters, Karen McDaniel (Dave) and Barbara “Barbie” Braithwaite (Poppy), both of Winchester, Virginia; sons, Garland “Butch” McDonald (Diana) of Gore, Virginia, Douglas McDonald of Stephens City, Virginia, Thomas McDonald (Anna) of Kernstown, Virginia, and Ernest “Ernie” McDonald (Mae) of Winchester, Virginia; nine grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, three sisters and three brothers; and her canine companion, Oscar.
Mrs. Hibbard was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters and two brothers.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at Mount Olive Cemetery, Hayfield, Virginia with Reverend Donnie Stotler officiating.
Memorial contributions in memory of Betty may be made to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 West Cork Street, Suite 405, Winchester, Virginia 22601.
