Betty Stine, 90, formerly of Kernstown, died Thursday, March 8, 2018, of natural causes. She lived with her daughter, Victoria Turley, in Waynesboro, PA. Her parents were the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Barton, both of Woodstock who then moved to Kernstown.
Mrs. Stine graduated from Stephens City High School in 1944 and attended Madison College and was a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma, Alpha Upsilon Chapter. She taught in the Winchester School System. She was married to Richard Earl Stine who died in 1973 and was preceded in death by their son, Charles Richard Stine and grandson, Christopher Stine.
In addition to her daughter, she is survived by her sister, Patricia Ann Harrigan of Hobart, Indiana, her niece, Deborah Schwuchow, nephew, Jason Harrigan, and niece, Susan Snapp of Winchester.
Mrs. Stine was a lifelong member of the Kernstown Methodist Church, where she played the piano and organ for many years.
A private graveside service was conducted for Mrs. Stine at the Gravel Springs Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a kind thought or deed be conducted in her remembrance for your friends or loved ones.
