Betty Jo Duncan, 82, of Stephenson, Virginia died Sunday, October 23, 2016 at Winchester Medical Center.
Mrs. Duncan was born in 1934 in Tennille, Georgia, the daughter of the late Fred and Dora Waters. Betty was a lifelong educator teaching both elementary and middle school in Washington, D.C. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to so many. She can be remembered for her love of family, her country and of course the Baltimore Orioles. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Her husband, Raymond Joseph Duncan, Sr., whom she married on October 9, 1957 in Washington, D.C. preceded her in death on October 11, 2010.
Surviving is daughter, Mollie Brannon and her husband, Steven of Stephenson, Virginia; son, Raymond J. Duncan, Jr. of Stephenson, Virginia; two grandchildren, Alyse Trinch and her husband Christopher of Stephenson, Virginia and William Brannon and his wife Kristen of Louisville, Kentucky and three great grandchildren, Sydney, Steven and Titus Trinch as well as extended family members and close friends.
Mrs. Duncan was preceded in death by two brothers, Billy Waters and Fred Waters, Jr.
A graveside service will be conducted on Monday at 10:00 am at Crownsville Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville, Maryland. The family will receive friends on Monday from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel. A Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday conducted by Mrs. Duncan’s grandson, William Brannon, at Omps Funeral Home Reception Center.
