Betty Hobbs Hartman
Betty Jean Hobbs Hartman, age 70, of Frederick County, Virginia, died Saturday, September 29, 2012, at her residence.
Mrs. Hartman was born in 1941, in Yancyville, North Carolina, the daughter of the late Beatrice W. and James Elwood Hobbs. She was a cartographer for USGS, retiring in 2003. She was a member of Shenandoah Valley Baptist Church. Betty was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who was dedicated to her family. She held a very special place in her heart for all her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Betty married Kenneth Hartman, Jr. on June 5, 1963, in Maryland.
Surviving with her husband are three sons, John Hartman and wife Jayanne of Weeting, England, Michael Hartman and wife, Renay, of Winchester, Virginia, and Mark Gnik and wife, Kerry, of Kingwood, West Virginia; seven grandchildren; Joseph, Jacob, Abigail, Gavin, Peter, Sydney, and Ashley, two sisters, Judy Smith and Elizabeth Turner.
Betty was preceded in death by one grandson Timothy Hartman, as well as one brother, Buddy Hobbs.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 6, 2012, at the Shenandoah Valley Baptist Church. Inurnment will be at a later date.
The family will meet friends one hour before the service at Shenandoah Valley Baptist Church.
