Betty Jean (Guess) Corbin, 84, resident of the Hilltop House Assisted Living, Winchester, VA died Thursday, March 26, 2015 at Winchester Medical Center.
Ms. Corbin was born in 1930 in Winchester, VA, the daughter of the late Henry and Esta Ella Guess. She was a valued employee at Leggett’s Department Store, Crown Cork and Seal and retired from Baker Instruments. Ms. Corbin was a cancer survivor and volunteered at the Cancer Society Office in Winchester. She was an active member of the Eagles Auxiliary #824, where she had served as a chaplain for the auxiliary. She was an avid bowler for many years displaying many championship trophies. Ms. Betty enjoyed reading, music, dancing and looked forward to traveling with Schrock Bus Tours.
Surviving with her former husband, Frank D. Corbin are daughters, Cynthia J. Stickley, Middletown, VA, Francine C. Mitchell (David), Westerville, OH; sons, George C. Johnson, Jr. (Linda), Winchester, VA, Daniel K. Corbin (Brigett), Clearbrook, VA; grandchildren, Angela Mitchell Crumrine, Jessica and Danielle Corbin, Brittany, Casey, and Destinee Mitchell, and Tara Jo Stickley; great-grandchildren, Kadin, Braylon, David, Sophia, Zoey and Evie.
Ms. Corbin was preceded in death by her first husband, George C. Johnson; sisters, Virginia Myskens and Shirley G. Magalis; brothers, Paul, William, Richard, and Joseph Guess.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 31, 2015, from 6-8 p.m. at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 with Reverend Kirk Nave officiating. Interment will be private at a later date.
