Betty Jane (Sager) Knee, 91 of Winchester, VA, passed away on Friday, October 6, 2023 at Westminster Canterbury.

Betty was born in 1932 in Winchester, VA, the daughter of the late Melvin and Anna Sager. She graduated from the Winchester Memorial Hospital Nursing Program in September of 1952. Betty retired from nursing in 1999 from Dr. George and James Troxel’s office. She was a member of Braddock Street United Methodist Church where she was involved in the Women’s Circle. Betty was a member of the Winchester Garden Club and she also volunteered at CCAP in the clothing room. She was also involved in the Gleaning Project at Marker Miller and various Bridge groups.

She married Ross Edward Knee on November 28, 1952 in Tokyo, Japan. He preceded her in death in March of 2021.

Betty is survived by her daughters, Cynthia Clendening (the late Ron) of Tulsa, OK, Mary Beth Estes (Ken) of Winchester, VA; son, Scott Knee of Stephens City, VA; grandchildren, Christopher Folger, Ryan Folger, Ashley Folger, James Knee, Landen Estes, Morgan Estes, 10 great-grandchildren, sister-in-law, Mary Jane Edwards, many nieces and nephews and her dear feline companion Cali “Baby Girl”.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband; brothers, Robert Melvin Sager, James Franklin Sager and brother-in-law, Skeeter Knee.

A gathering of family and friends will be held for Betty on Friday, October 13, 2023, from 5pm to 7pm with a service the following day, Saturday, October 14, 2023, at 11am all held at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel. Interment will be in Mount Hebron Cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. Frank Sherman.

We will sorely miss “Mrs. Knee”. She was one of the kindest women I have ever met. She lived life with a quiet resolve but her strength of character was unsurpassed. My grandma Knee was such a special person. Although we lived across the us from each other, she always sent cards on every holiday and or called on special days. Staying at our house on holidays with family and building memories, I’ll always hold dear. The things I will remember most about visiting my grandma my grandma will be, her grandfather clock that always rang, her leaving her garage door open, always had a sweater with her/ always cold, her taco soup, her sweet voice, last time I came to visit during my grandpa‘s funeral, She let me drive her to Costco ❤️ we had a great time. The last time I seen my gma was when I surprised her when I was at a football game in PA. Got to hug her neck❤️❤️❤️love you gma knee, I know you are with our Lord and gpa knee watching over us.
