Betty J. Williams Gladden

Betty J. Williams Gladden, 74, of Inwood, West Virginia died Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at her home.

Mrs. Gladden was born in 1937 in Albin, Virginia, the daughter of the late Julian and Virgie Williams. She was a homemaker and a woman of many interests. She was a member of the Bunker Hill Presbyterian Church where she was a Sunday school teacher and sang in the church choir. She was a member of the Women of the Moose Lodge 120 in Martinsburg, WV for 20 years, and was a Brownie Scout Leader. She loved singing Karaoke, dancing, music, interior decorating and going to yard sales. She loved her family, including her special friend, her dog, Benji.

Mrs. Gladden married Dennis James Gladden on March 16, 1957 in Hagerstown, Maryland.

Surviving with her husband are three daughters, Sandy Hamilton and companion, John Slonaker, of Martinsburg, WV, Pam Hamrick and husband, Wayne, of Stephenson, VA and Dana Spiker and husband, Matt, of Bunker Hill, WV; six grandchildren, Mendi McDowell, Brianne Frazier, Brannon Hamilton, Angela Long, Erica Barnes and Garrett Spiker; eleven great grandchildren, and a sister, Mary Catherine Spurling of Strasburg, VA.

Mrs. Gladden was preceded in death by a sister, Gretna Buhl, and two brothers, Roy Williams and Carl Williams.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Friday at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel with Reverend Bill Everhart officiating. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 2:00 – 4:00 PM and 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

Honorary pallbearers will be Brannon Hamilton, Curt Creswell, Matt Spiker, Garrett Spiker and John Palmer.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Berkeley County Humane Society, 554 Charles Town Road, Martinsburg, WV 25405, or the Bunker Hill Presbyterian Church, PO Box 660, Bunker Hill, WV 25413

Mamaw was the kindest, most loving, giving person i have ever known. If you complimented her purse she would say, "take it" i have others. Mamaw that necklace is beautiful, she would put it around my neck. She attended sporting events that myself and my husband played in and then began coming to all of her great grandson's, and was our biggest fan. Her maccaroni and cheese with crackers on top, no one could "top." Her smile lit up any room! Yes, Mamaw, there are yard sales in heaven and i am sure when i see you again you will have apple decor, a purse or two and something silver for your grandaughter who misses you sooo much already. My angel.....until i get to see you again. I love you!

We have known Betty for a long time and remember when she and Dennis lived on Torytown Road near Butch's Grandmother.
