Betty Darrell Fletcher Kerns, 80, of Frederick County, Virginia, died Wednesday, September 10, 2014, in Blue Ridge Hospice Residential Center.
Mrs. Kerns was born in 1934, in Winchester, Virginia, the daughter of the late Loring and Annie Fletcher. She was a graduate of John Handley High School, Class of 1955. Mrs. Kerns retired from Frederick County Public School after 20 years of service. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Winchester. Betty enjoyed birds, especially cardinals, flowers, gardening and church activities.
Betty married Donald L. Kerns on October 15, 1955, in Williamsport, Maryland.
Surviving with her husband are her sons, Terry J. Kerns (Michelle) of Stephens City, Randy L. Kerns of Winchester; and sister, Mildred Shoemaker of Winchester.
She is preceded in death by one sister and one brother.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, from 4:00-6:00 PM, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Monday, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, with Reverend Doug Geeting officiating. Interment will be in Mount Hebron Cemetery, Winchester, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be Mark Stotler, Sam McCall, Doug Madagan, Tyler Stine, Scott Mullin and Mike Whitacre.
