Betty Belle (Leighton) Dubuque, 86, of Frederick County, Virginia passed away Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at Sunrise Senior Care in Frederick, Maryland.
Ms. Dubuque was born in 1931 in Lexington, Virginia, the daughter of the late Collie and Lucy Leighton. Betty began her career with C&P Telephone Company as a switchboard operator and retired as an operations manager from AT&T after 35 years of service. Ms. Dubuque was a member of the Ladies of the Moose, Elks Lodge Auxiliary, and the Eagles Auxiliary. She enjoyed shopping, having her hair and nails done weekly, enjoyed filling her curio cabinets with her many collectibles, and long car rides with her beloved husband; loved dancing to the oldies and listening to country music, especially George Jones and Merle Haggard.
Her husband, Robert “Bob” Dubuque, Sr., whom she married in 1975 in Fort Washington, Maryland preceded her in death in April 2017. Her first husband, Carl Franklin Bayne, also preceded her in death.
Surviving is a daughter, Delores Fry (Bruce); stepdaughter, Sherry Ferris (Ron); sons, Larry Bayne (Ann) and Barry Bayne (Rhonda); grandchildren, Amanda Bourbeau, Sherry Morris, David Smith, Larry F. Bayne, Amy Taylor, Erin Yoder, Brandon Bayne, Ryan Bayne, Robin Bayne, Natasha Lines, and Troy Hart; twenty-five plus great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Helen Leighton; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents and husbands she was preceded in death by a sister, Dana Bane and brother-in-law, George McKinley Bane; brother, Roy Leighton; stepson, Robert Stephen Dubuque, Jr.; and a great grandson, Derek Smith
The family will receive friends from 9 am to 10 am on Monday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1 pm on Monday at Culpeper National Cemetery, Culpeper, Virginia.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Betty may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 3551 N. Broad Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 19140 ATT: Finance Department.
