Our sincere condolences to his family. While I didn't know him personally I was quite familiar with his younger sisters, mom and dad as we grew up in the same area and attended church together for years.

Irene, Donna, the kids and I have so many wonderful memories of the kids growing up on Lake James and looking out and seeing you and Ben just a few houses over. Our kids thought the world of Ben, as did Donna and I. Ben helped me so many times, like when we were putting in the dock and then when I couldn't get the stairs level going up the hill. I'll always remember him telling me to measure twice and cut once. I remember the time he took our kids out riding on the go-carts at the school and Michael flipped one of them. Tom, of course, remembers Mr. Ben going with him and Donna to look at a car and they came home with a Z28 Camero...well, at least it was used. I can't remember all the times that Donna and I swam over to your house just to say hello or walked over to see what you were doing. Ben was always working on something and it was fun to see what the project of the day was. It was also fun seeing your grandkids out swimming every summer and enjoying that long diving board that Ben installed on your dock. Donna especially loved going over to your house in the evenings when I was traveling. That was a special time for her and you were both so gracious and kind. We are grateful to have had the opportunity to know both you and Ben and to be able to call you our friends! We are truly sorry for your loss. Love, Jeff Summerour
