Beatrice S. Shade
Beatrice Sarah Estis Shade, 92 of Winchester, Virginia, died Monday, December 23, 2013, at her home.
Mrs. Shade was born in 1921 in Coffeeville, Alabama, the daughter of the late Walter B. and Ellen S. Estis. She was employed by the Army and Air Force during World War II. Mrs. Shade was a homemaker and volunteered at the Veterans Administration Center in Martinsburg, West Virginia, for many years. Mrs. Shade was also a Lifetime Member of the DAV Auxiliary Chapter 9, Winchester Virginia.
She married Julian James Shade on October 27, 1944. He preceded her in death in 1998.
Surviving are three daughters, Rose L. Difley and husband, John, of Sandy, Utah, Lorraine L. Leake and husband, Junior, of Inwood, West Virginia, Lenore E. Racey of Stephens City, Virginia; eight grandchildren, Bryce Difley, Aleta Anderson, Seth DiFley, Thea Jackson and husband, J.D., Shannon Betts and husband, Christopher, Sheena Racey, Brian Leake and wife, Jenny, Brent Leake and wife, Melissa; 10 Great-grandchildren, Jackson and Nicholas Betts, Jacob, Josh, Justin, Logan, Laden and Layne Leake, Emily Anderson and Savannah Jackson; sister, Mary Norris of Coffeeville, Alabama; brother, John Estis of Grove Hill, Alabama.
One son, Julian James “J.J.” Shade, Jr; her sister, Marie Hodge, brothers, Chesley Estis and Allen Estis; sister-in-law, Margaret Estis; and brothers-in-law, Herbie Hodge and Clarence Norris, preceded her in death.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, from 6:00-8:00 PM, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Friday, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with Reverend Jacob C. Meyers officiating. Interment will be in Bunker Hill Cemetery, Bunker Hill, West Virginia.
