Barry Edward Fitzpatrick, 70, of Martinsburg, WV passed away Monday, May 11, 2020, at Berkeley Medical Center.

Mr. Fitzpatrick was born in 1950 in Coaldale, PA, son of the late John and Vondo Fitzpatrick. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. Mr. Fitzpatrick graduated from Shenandoah University, earning a Bachelor’s degree and was employed at Valley Health (Shenandoah Memorial Hospital) as a Respiratory Therapist, retiring in 2014. For many years he played Santa at Shenandoah Memorial Hospital and at NREP school. Mr. Fitzpatrick enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family. Not only was he a real family guy, but anyone that met him always walked away saying, “what a great guy!”.

He married Jane Nease on August 1, 1980 in Fairmont, WV.

Surviving with his wife are daughters, Erin F. Oh (Daniel) and Meghan E. Fitzpatrick; son, Andrew Edward Fitzpatrick; grandchildren, Naomi Calloway, Marcus and Elliott Oh; and brothers, Dennis Fitzpatrick (Jill) and Brian Fitzpatrick (Debra).

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all services are private. A celebration of Barry’s life will be planned at a later date.

Barry was so full of life. The nuns at St. Jerome's School loved him. He kept them on their toes every day. They always told Aunt Vonda, "He is full of the Old Nick!" Barry was a true family man. I remember when he brought his family to Tamaqua,Pa on a "mystery vacation" . Barry wanted his children to see where he lived as a young boy. Although I lost contact with my dear cousin, there were many times when I spoke of him with my children. I know that you are smiling down on all of us. Rest in peace my dear cousin.

Barry was a wonderful person and coworker. He will be missed.

I knew Barry as a kind and gentile person. Always there to help when needed. As he worked in Respiratory Therapy, he always gave his best to patients and staff. We have lost a good friend.

Barry will be missed. His lively smile and laugh could light up a room. My children both remember him as Santa when he was at Warren Memorial Hospital in Front Royal Va. I will miss him he was an amazing man

Barry was the best boss I ever had in my 30 years at Warren/VHS. He was a friend . He always dressed up as Santa Claus. You fly high Barry. We will see each other latter. Cheryl

Barry was a good friend, and brother. His heart was big and his shoes will be hard to fill. He will be missed by all. Until we meet again. The world has lost a great man, husband, father, grandfather, and therapist.

We will truly miss Barry. Always so welcoming and FUN to be around! Love to the entire Fitzpatrick family.

What a wonderful man! We took the disciple study with Barry and loved him for his knowledge and humor. He was a great family man. We will all miss such a wonderful human being.

Always loved you, big guy. You made coming to work so enjoyable. You made me laugh until I was in tears and my stomach hurt. I have so many good memories and will always cherish them.

I had the pleasure of working at Shenandoah with Barry for several years. He was loved by everyone and touched so many. He was dedicated to his job, and loved his employees. He will be missed by many.
