Barbara Virginia Harsh
Barbara Virginia Harsh, 66, of Romney, WV passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones on Friday, October 31, 2014.
Mrs. Harsh was born in 1948 in Winchester, VA, the daughter of the late Theodore and Alice L. Smelser. She was a self-employed caregiver and attended Woodbine Assembly of God in Clear Brook, VA. Barbara loved to travel, especially to Tennessee and Pennsylvania to see the Amish community. She was a very loving, kind-hearted, giving woman; her greatest joy was from helping others.
Barbara married Earl C. Harsh on January 10, 1964 in Hagerstown, MD.
Surviving with her husband are daughters, Vickie Hiett (Russell) of Winchester, VA and Sherry Allen (Michael) of Bunker Hill, WV. Also surviving are grandchildren, Ray McDonald, Jr. of Strasburg, VA, Enoch Allen of Bunker Hill, WV, Randy Hiett of Winchester, VA and Terry Hiett of Winchester, VA; sisters, Phyllis Strawderman (Kenneth) of Maysville, WV and Darlene Jones of Winchester, VA.
Mrs. Harsh is preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Lee.
The family would like to thank the Hospice of the Panhandle for their wonderful care given to Barbara.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6-8 pm at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 pm on Wednesday with Ralph Smelser and Reverend David Krause officiating at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel. Pallbearers will be Rick Strawderman, LaVerne Strawderman, Dalton Strawderman, Stoney Jones, Jr., Chad Jones and Terry Hiett. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park, Frederick County, VA.
