Barbara Fieo, 78, of Winchester, Virginia, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2026, with her devoted husband and daughter by her side. Born on June 15, 1947, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Barbara was the cherished daughter of Francis A. O’Neill Jr. and Eleanore Kurtz.
Barbara graduated from Archbishop Prendergast High School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She went on to dedicate her professional life to serving others as a Volunteer Coordinator for Winchester Medical Center. Her career reflected her deep commitment to community service and helping those in need.
Barbara’s life was defined by her unwavering dedication to her family and her community. She was a proud and loving wife to her husband of 55 years, Richard L. Fieo, MD, and a devoted mother to her daughter Megan Fieo Triplett. Barbara also held the title of “Gram” with immense pride and adored her grandchildren: Matthew R. Conner, Ryan C. Conner, Avery G. Triplett, Kyra Fieo, and Elizabeth Fieo.
Her passion for volunteering was evident throughout her life. Barbara gave generously of her time and talents to numerous organizations including Sacred Heart Academy, both during the years her children attended and later when her granddaughter enrolled, Girl Scouts, Sacred Heart Church, Meals on Wheels, and the Winchester Medical Center Auxiliary. She was also a proud member of the Blue Ridge Care-Helen Zebarth Legacy Society.
An active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Winchester, Barbara’s faith was a cornerstone of her life. Her strength and resilience were an inspiration to all who knew her. She was a three-time breast cancer survivor who shared her courage and indomitable spirit with everyone she met.
Barbara is survived by her beloved husband Richard; her daughter Megan; five grandchildren; her daughter-in-law, Laura Fieo and her sister Peggy O’Neill Drabinski. She is predeceased by her son Richard L. Fieo; parents Francis A. O’Neill Jr. and Eleanore Kurtz; siblings Francis O’Neill Jr., Eleanore “Bunny” Kortze, Carolyn “Chickie” Donaghue, Patrice “Patty” Weil; and sister-in-law Marianna Fieo SSJ.
Barbara’s legacy is one of love, service, faith, and resilience, a life well-lived that touched countless hearts. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her.
Visitation will be held on June 11, 2026, at 10:00 AM with a Funeral Mass beginning at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 130 Keating Drive, Winchester. A Celebration of Life will follow at Omps Funeral Home, 1600 Amherst Street, Winchester. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery,115 E Bond Street, Winchester.
