Barbara G. Thomas, 99, of Berkeley Springs, WV, formerly of Winchester, VA, passed away Sunday, October 20, 2019, at Spring Arbor Assisted Living.
Born 1920 in Dolgeville, NY, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Maybelle Greenlee. After living in Arkport, NY for most of her childhood, she attended Bryant and Stratton Business School in Buffalo, NY. She was a secretary for Liberty Mutual Insurance Company and Temple University Medical School in Philadelphia, PA where she met her husband, Wilbur Clyde Thomas. They were married in Los Angeles, CA in 1951 and resided there until moving to Meadville, PA in 1955 with their two children. They retired to Statesville, NC and later moved to Winchester. Barbara was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She also enjoyed doing needlework, focusing on traditional rug hooking during the last thirty years of her life. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Winchester.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1991.
Surviving is a daughter, Susan Thomas and her husband Glenn Horr of Berkeley Springs, WV and a son, Peter Thomas of St. Louis Park, MN; granddaughter, Laurel Manville and husband Juston of Storrs, CT and great-grandson, Cooper T. Manville of Storrs, CT.
All services will be private. Arrangements are being handled by Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
