Barbara Ann Litzenberg, 81, passed peacefully from this life into her Lord’s arms on Wednesday, May 27, 2020, with family by her side at her home in Stephens City.
Barbara was born in 1939 in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Robert and Helen Hood. She was a homemaker and provided a comfortable, loving home for her late husband, George, and their children. Upon George’s retirement from the government they sold their home in Northern Virginia and moved into their motorhome to travel the US and Canada. They were married for 60 years before his passing in June 2019.
Surviving are daughters, Christine Helen Cregar and husband, Tyrone of Stephens City, Virginia; Vickie Ann Sherman and husband, John of Gloucester, Virginia; and Mary Litzenberg of Kennett Square, Pennsylvania; son, G. Scott Litzenberg of Kennett Square, Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Nicholas J. McFadden and wife, Kiyomi of Gerrardstown, West Virginia; Brandon Casson and wife, Ariel of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Kristin Litzenberg and partner, Kevin Anderson of New York City; and Tracey Savage and husband, Jeff of Hamilton, Virginia; sisters, Judith C. Cain and husband, Patrick; Robin Hood; and Marion Hood and husband, Richard; and brother, Terrance R. Hood and wife, Anna. Great Grandchildren include Miyu, Chiyuki, Cillian, Bailey Rae, Wayne (Nicole), Ryan, Kayleigh, Kyle, Lauren and Emma; one great, great grandchild, Brantley; and step-grandchildren, Tanya Leedom and Tammi Carnes.
Along with her parents and her husband, Barbara was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Bob Williams.
All services will be at a later date and private. Arrangements are being handled by Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
