Barbara Ann (Long) Robertson, a beloved matriarch and devoted wife, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 5, 2024, surrounded by her family at Winchester Medical Center at the age of 80.
Barbara was born in 1943 in Huntington, NY, the daughter of the late Edward and Florence Long. Barbara and her late husband, John, raised their family in Huntington Bay, NY. Her greatest joy in life was caring for her family and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Barbara loved deeply and will be remembered for her kind soul, sense of humor, and grace.
Barbara and John lived a full, joyous life together. Some of their favorite activities included boating on the Long Island Sound, competing in bowling leagues, and going out to dance and gather with friends. Barbara was a member of the Women of the Moose and Elk Lodges and the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). She was also an avid reader and enjoyed playing piano, card games, and crocheting.
Barbara married the love of her life, John Alfred Robertson, on January 4, 1964. They celebrated an incredible 60 years of marriage this January. John preceded her in death on January 20, 2024.
They built a beautiful family together and raised 4 children: Lisa Broschard (Tommy), Brian Robertson, Debby O’Donnell (Darrin) and Kimberly Harper (James). Barbara and John were blessed with 8 grandchildren: Michael, Ryan, Ashley, Kaitlyn, Brittany, Brendon, Savannah, Trent, and 2 great-grandchildren: Ella and Olivia.
She now joins her beloved husband, parents, and brother, Edward T. Long Jr., in eternal rest.
Barbara Ann Robertson’s legacy as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend will never be forgotten. Her heart of gold, playful nature, radiant smile, and infectious laugh will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A joint visitation will be held to honor both Barbara and John on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, from 6pm to 8pm with a joint service the following day, Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at 11am, all held at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel. Barbara and John will be laid to rest together in Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Luray, VA, surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains she loved so dearly.
