Aulbern “Bat” Mullins
Aulbern Mullins, 87, of Winchester, Virginia, died, July 6, 2014, in Winchester Medical Center.
Mr. Mullins was born in 1927, in Pound, Virginia, the son of the late Bryan and Savannah Mullins. He was a veteran having served in the Army during World War II. He was employed as a steel worker with Bethlehem Steel in Baltimore, Maryland, prior to his retirement. Mr. Mullins was a member of the Lighthouse Baptist Church. Bat was a loving husband, father grandfather and great-grandfather. He will forever be remembered for his love of music and his ability to play the guitar.
Mr. Mullins married Frances Moyers on February 14, 1990, in Winchester, Virginia.
Surviving with his wife are a daughter, Scarlett Holt and husband, James, of York, Pennsylvania, and a step-daughter, Amanda Rogers of Winchester, Virginia; a son, Edward Mullins, of Baltimore, Maryland; three step-sons, Bradley Moyers and wife, Theresa, Brent Moyers and wife, Kelly, and Jeffrey Moyers, and wife, Kathy, all of Winchester, Virginia; twelve grandchildren; many many great grandchildren; a sister, Freida Roberts of North Carolina, and three brothers, Clint Mullins and wife, Verdie, of Pound, Virginia, Denvil Mullins and wife, Connie, of Lebanon, Virginia, and Avery Mullins and wife, Jane, of Piney Flats, Tennessee, as well as many close friends.
Mr. Mullins was preceded in death by a son, Gregory Mullins, two grandchildren, Denzel Smith and Hope Moyers; two sisters, Edna Terry and Draxie Rothgab; and four brothers, Emory Mullins, Dempsey Mullins, Roy Mullins and John Mullins.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 10, 2014, from 6:00-8:00 pm, Omps funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Friday, July 11, 2014 at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with Pastor David Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Hebron Cemetery. Military honors will be afforded by V.F.W. Post #2123.
