Audrey A. McFarland

Audrey Ann Dorsey McFarland, 87, of Frederick County, Virginia, went to be with the Lord, Thursday, June 17, 2010, in her home.

Mrs. McFarland was born in 1923, in Toronto, Canada, the daughter of the late Jacob Clyde and Donna Myrtle Dorsey. She was a homemaker, loving mom and grandma. She enjoyed quilting and sewing. She was of the Methodist Faith.

She married George W. McFarland on September 13, 1941, in Winchester, Virginia. He preceded her in death in August, 1993.

Surviving are her daughters, Sandra Stockard of Winchester, Virginia, Donna Lockhart and husband, Lyle, of Wardensville, West Virginia, Brenda Cain and husband, Larry, of Clearbrook, Virginia, April Adams of Frederick County, Virginia, Kelly Twigg and husband, Ronnie, of Winchester, Virginia; her son, Tommy McFarland and wife, Gwen, Frederick County, Virginia; 21 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; and 10 great, great grandchildren. Mrs. McFarland was one of eight children and is also survived by one sister, Ruby Nelson of Dillsburg, Pennsylvania.

Two sons, Mike McFarland, Ricky McFarland and one son-in-law, Franklin Stockard preceded her in death.

A graveside service will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Monday at Mount Olive Cemetery with Pastor Darrell W. Waller officiating. Interment will be in Mount Olive Cemetery, Hayfield, Virginia.

The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 4:00-6:00 PM at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.

I remember when George and Audrey first met. She came over to get water at our house and George was there. There were no lights, so we struck matches so that George and Audrey could see what each looked like, So, that must have started the flame. And the rest is history.
