Arthur R. Parrish, 91, of Winchester, VA, died April 28, 2017, at his residence.
Mr. Parrish was born in Buffalo, NY, in 1925, the son of the late John W. L. and May M. Parrish. He received a B. A. degree in accounting at University of Maryland. He was a veteran with the rank of TSGT, having served the U. S. Army from 1944 to 1946 during World War II. He was a CPA for over 60 years and was the owner of Arthur R. Parrish and Co. in Winchester, VA.
He was a member of American Institute of CPAs, Virginia Society of CPAs, American Legion, Winchester Host Lions Club, and Braddock Street United Methodist Church. He taught accounting at Shenandoah University for 20 years. He was the president of Winchester Country Club in 1991. In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing, playing blackjack, family beach trips and loved spending the holidays and birthdays with family and friends. He loved traveling the United States.
Mr. Parrish married his wife, Jane (Moseley) Parrish in Richmond, VA, on March 14, 1969.
Along with his wife, he is survived by his two daughters, Christine P. Scully (John), of Winchester, VA and Cynthia P. Blough (Charles), of Hume, VA; five grandchildren, John S. Scully, V (Melissa), of Winchester, VA, David C. Scully (Nancy), of McLean, VA, James A. Scully (Jessica), of Fredericksburg, VA, Christine L. Maddox, of Richmond, VA, and Allison B. Maddox, of Richmond, VA; six great-grandchildren, John S. Scully VI, Leah R. Scully, Page E. Scully, Samuel D. Scully, Lily A. Scully, and Seddon G. Scully; and sister, Evelyn M. Lederer, of Winchester, VA.
Mr. Parrish was preceded in death by his son, David C. Parrish, in 1958; sister, Joan L. McCormick; and two brothers, John W. L. Parrish, Jr. and William P. Parrish.
The family will receive friends Tuesday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, at 1:00 p.m. Interment will take place at Mount Hebron Cemetery in Winchester, VA.
