Arnold L. Echols, Sr., 89 of Winchester, VA passed away Monday, August 8, 2022 peacefully at his home.
Arnold was born in 1933 in Giles County, VA the son of the late William Echols, Sr. and Effie (Sarver) Echols. He was owner of A&M Antiques for 29 years, worked as garden center assistant at Wal-Mart and retired after 36 years of service as service manager from Shade Equipment Co. Arnold enjoyed antiquing with his wife, Mary, restoring furniture pieces and attending antique shows and auctions. He and Mary enjoyed getting out in the mornings and caring for their flowers. Arnold also was a fan of the Dallas Cowboys.
He married Mary Margaret Rose on October 8, 1952 in Harrisburg, VA.
Arnold is survived by his wife Mary; children, Sandra Van Natter (Hugh) of Winchester, VA, Diana Lichliter (Harry) of Winchester, VA, Donna Stottlemyer of Clear Brook, VA, Raymond Echols of Winchester, VA, Eunice Chaffin (Donald) of Ashland, KY, William Echols of Harrisburg, PA, Patricia Sensel of Falling Waters, WV and Dianna Gosselin (Bill) of Manchester, NH; 23 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; sisters, Mary Music of Zuni, VA, Martha Hoskins (Gary) of California, MO, Geneva McGaire of Mt. Pleasant, NC and Effie Shrader of Suffolk, VA.
He was preceded in death by his sons, Arnold Lee Echols, Jr., Robert Wayne Echols; grandsons, Brent Stottlemyer, Jeremy Sensel; sister, Ruby Greever and brother, William Echols, Jr.
A visitation will be held on Monday, August 15, 2022 from 6pm to 8pm with a service the following day, Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at 1pm all held at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park Mausoleum. Officiating will be Pastor Charles Headley.
Pallbearers will be, Hugh Van Natter, Demetrius Van Natter, Harry Lichliter, Robert Echols, Raymond Echols and Jeremy Lauck.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Omps Funeral Home for funeral expenses.
