Anneka L. Nydam, 50, of Frederick County, Virginia passed away Tuesday, September 25, 2018, at Blue Ridge Hospice Inpatient Care Center surrounded by her loving family.
Anneka was born in 1968 in Winchester, Virginia, the daughter of Jane Nydam and the late Arend Nydam, the first generation born as an American citizen; her father being born in Java, Indonesia. She was a graduate of James Wood High School and a veteran of the United States Navy, having served on the USS Shenandoah. It was through serving in the Navy she earned an Associate’s Degree. Anneka was an Inspection Security Specialist with FEMA. She was an avid animal lover who rescued all types of animals. Anneka was very involved with equine rescue and all who knew her was aware of how passionate she was about this. She loved living on the farm and always looked forward to trips to Aruba. Anneka was of the Christian faith.
Surviving with her mother, Jane, is her fiancé, Timothy Davis; brother, Arend L. Nydam, II; nephews, Arend and Matthew Nydam; and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Along with her father, Arend, Anneka was preceded in death by grandparents, Commander Arend A. Nydam and Geertrui A.C. See; and grandparents, Robert and Mary Bell.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 6 pm to 8 pm on Friday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with a memorial service at 7 pm with Pastor Phillip King officiating. Interment will be private.
