Anna Lee (Snyder) Sandy, 87 of Stephens City, Virginia, found eternal peace Monday, April 25, 2016, at her home.
Mrs. Sandy was born in 1928, in Winchester, Virginia, the daughter of the late Lula May and Thurston Oliver Snyder. She was a graduate of Stephens City High School, Class of 1945. Mrs. Sandy was a talented homemaker and a volunteer dispatcher with Winchester Volunteer Rescue Squad for over 25 years. Anna Lee was a lifelong member of Kernstown United Methodist Church where she was the longest standing member. She was a proud supporter of American Indian causes to honor her heritage. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many. She will kindly remembered for her love of butterflies and chocolate brownies, and also, for creating numerous personalized handcrafts. She will be genuinely missed by all who knew her.
She married Melvin Kenneth Sandy on October 16, 1946, in Winchester, Virginia. He preceded her in death on February 1, 2003.
Mrs. Sandy is survived by two daughters, Barbara Ann Sankovich and her husband, Richard of Winchester, Virginia; Mary Kay LaFollette and her husband, Donnie of Yellow Spring, West Virginia; three grandchildren, Adam Sankovich of Elkton, Virginia, Christy Lewis and her husband, Paul, of Duck, West Virginia, and Ellen DiBiase and her husband, Evan, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; one great granddaughter, Lana DiBiase; a sister, Lillian Bursey of Beavercreek, Ohio, and a brother, Cecil “Ward” Snyder of Winchester, Virginia.
Her son, Gary K. Sandy and sister, Marie Luttrell, preceded her in death.
The family will receive friends on Monday, from 6:00-8:00 PM, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Tuesday at Kernstown United Methodist Church with Pastor Aaron Fitch officiating. Interment will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Stephens City, Virginia.
