Anna Belle Popkins, 89, of Winchester, VA, passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at Winchester Medical Center.
Anna was born in 1935 in Onego, WV, the daughter of the late Robert and Gertie Ketterman. She worked at People’s Drug Store, Drug Fair, Harris Intertype, Schoneman’s, Martins and retired in 2012 after 18 years of service in the cafeteria at John Handley High School. She loved working with the students and warming their cookies for them. Anna was a member of Victory Church in Winchester. She belonged to the Moose Lodge in Winchester. Anna was an avid reader who loved studying her Bible. Anna enjoyed tending to her flower garden, putting together jigsaw puzzles and playing BINGO with her friends at The Willows. She most enjoyed having her family gather around the table for her home-cooked meals.
She married Donald L. Popkins on December 29, 1971, in Winchester, VA and he preceded her in death on January 12, 2012.
Anna is survived by her children, Sherry Coffin (David) of Winchester, VA, Pete Boyce (Marilyn) of Clarks Summit, PA, Bradley Boyce (Janet) of Winchester, KY; 6 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; sister, Janie Ketterman of Winchester, VA; and her brother, Herman Ketterman of Elkins, WV.
In addition to her parents and husband, Anna is preceded in death by her nine siblings.
A visitation will be held for Anna on Friday, April 4, 2025, at 10am with a service to follow at 11am all held at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel. A time of food and fellowship will take place following the service at Omps Funeral Home Reception Center. A Committal Service will be conducted on Friday, April 4, 2025, at 2pm in the mausoleum chapel at Shenandoah Memorial Park.
