On May 30, 2026, Ann Lois Whitacre left this world to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Born on July 19, 1940, one of six children to Peter C. Nicholson and Mazie F. Nicholson in Prince William County. She married Preston Whitacre on April 23, 1963.

She leaves behind four children who believe she was the greatest Mom ever. One daughter, Debbie Clark and three sons, David Whitacre, Preston Whitacre II, and Patrick Whitacre; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Her family was the light of her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Ann was employed in the family business, Preston’s Amoco Service and was also a caregiver for the elderly. She was a member of the Church of Christ at Mountain View where she loved her church family. She loved bowling and was a member of the country club league as well as the seniors league and took part in many tournaments. Ann was also a member of the Shenandoah Valley Mustang Club.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at 10am with a service to be conducted at 11am at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Whitacre, VA.

I first met The Whitacre Family in 2010 at a Nursing Home in Winchester. VA. where I once was employed. I got to know them very well. Ann was there every day visiting her late husband, Preston. I got to hear all about Preston and Ann, and their love of their family and their love of car racing, I actually wrote a short story about them and gave it to Ann. This is my beautiful grandma. They don’t come any better than her, she was the best. When I was little, we used to go shopping me and my mom and her I would be in the shopping cart and she would always ask me if I wanted to go see the most beautiful girl in the world she would push me up to a mirror and I would look at myself. I’d say “grandma that’s me!” She’d say “I told you the most beautiful girl in the world!” We would enjoy going to Golden Corral to get her favorite chicken breast and beef stew. I think her favorite place was papermill place where she would always order a big pancake with sausage gravy. I will miss all those breakfast and lunch dates. She was an absolute treasure and I’m so grateful she was my grandma!! Miss you always beautiful grandma!! Xoxo
