A. Ruth Lineberg Allamong
Amonda Ruth Lineberg Allamong, 87, of Frederick County, Virginia died Thursday, December 15, 2011, in Blue Ridge Hospice Residential Center.
Mrs. Allamong was born in 1924, in Frederick County, Virginia, the daughter of the late Strother and Gertie Lineberg. She was a homemaker, great cook and baker. Mrs. Allamong formerly worked at Leggetts in the sewing department in downtown Winchester, also worked at Harris Intertype of Winchester, Virginia, and was an avid squirrel hunter.
She married James H. Allamong on July 25, 1942, at the parsonage at Albin Village, conducted by Reverend E. B. Smith.
After their marriage Mrs. Allamong followed her husband through World War II meeting up in Alamogordo Army Air Base, New Mexico. They then were transferred to Charleston Air Force Base, Charleston, SC until the end of the war.
Surviving with her husband are three daughters, Margaret Ann Hicks and husband, Mickey, of Hampshire, Illinois, Sandra English and Sue Orndorff both of Winchester; her son, Stephen Allamong and wife, Linda, of Winchester; ten grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and her sister, Garnetta Johnson of Winchester.
Two sisters, Gretna Wolford, Catherine Enos and two brothers, Edwin and Russell Lineberg, preceded her in death.
A funeral will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Monday, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with Mr. David A Owings officiating. Interment will be in St. John’s Church Cemetery, Frederick County, Virginia.
The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon, from 2:00-4:00 PM, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
