Amber Nikcole Alexander Lucchiani, 38, of Winchester VA, was called home by the Lord, Thursday, July 12, 2012, in Winchester.

Amber was born on February 18, 1974 in Morgantown, West Virginia, She is the daughter of Libby and Steve Shoulders and the late Charles Alexander. She was a 6th grade teacher at Robert E. Aylor Middle School in Stephens City. Amber was a graduate of WVU receiving a Bachelors Degree in Education and did post graduate work at JMU. Amber was a member of St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Inwood, West Virginia. She married Antonio Gerald Lucchiani on July 7, 2006, in Winchester.

Amber was many things to many people. To her husband, she was his best friend, rock of Gibraltar and devoted wife. To her children, the divine miracles in her life, she was an adoring and devoted mother. To her students, she was an inspiration and tenacious advocate. She was a great patriot, volunteering her time at the VA Medical Center in Martinsburg, WV for the PTSD program with her students. To her family and friends she was everything. She was a circle of light to her mother, her sister’s best friend, and her brothers were her babies. She was a Prayer Warrior to all. She was the wellspring of life and the heartbeat of her family.

Surviving with her husband Antonio is her son Anthony Alexander; daughter, Isabella Marie; parents Libby & Steve Shoulders of Morgantown WV; sister, Tracy Frankwick and husband Joel of South Riding VA; brothers Philip Alexander of Morgantown WV, Isaac Alexander of Charles Town WV, Shawn Shoulders and wife, Suzan of Richlands NC, Steven Shoulders and wife, Heather, of Jacksonville NC; mothers in law, Colette “Meme” Davis of Berkeley Springs WV, Jeannette “Ba Noi” Klimowiez of Corvallis OR and beloved aunts Mary Jo Levin of Aldie VA, Phyllis Bateson of Westernport MD and Sherran Shaver of Morgantown WV along with other numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 5:00-8:00 PM at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel in Winchester, VA.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Thursday, at St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Inwood WV with Father Brian Shoda officiating. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lucchiani family in care of Antonio Lucchiani at Apple Federal Credit Union.

Amber was always a bright ray in my life. She had such a strong shoulder to cry on and strong back to lift me up when I was down. At 4' 10" she was the largest woman I ever met. Her presence filled the room and the lives of those she touched. She will be missed.

I'd simply like to remain anonymous,but I wanted to show the family that I was certainly thinking of them aswell as many others are at this time. I'd like to say I did not have the pleasure of knowing Amber, but over hearing what the community has had to say, has been nothing,but great things.She truly sounds like a true gem. Wow, the old saying of "make everyday count" was what Amber taught her students and inspired her friends to do. We just never really know what that means until tragedies such as Amber's happen. She was my daughters teacher and mentor at Aylor, she was a friend to me and my wife. She had an infectious kind of energy that caused her students to think outside the box; to dream of possibilities outside the classroom. She loved her country and those that served it. She single handily taught my daughter to love her country and respect and honor those that were serving and had served. She was a "put your money where your mouth is kinda gal". She loved her husband and her children, every time we ran into her that was all she had to talk about. She loved her students, she loved her calling and she loved her family. She adored our Veterans as she spearheaded a project where the kids would give up their personal time to go to the VA Hospital to honor our struggling Veterans. Life will go on for all of us, but the void she is leaving will be greatly felt for forever by those that knew her and loved her. But her work in the community will be felt for years as our children grow up and become parents and citizens, the values that this 4"8" package of energy taught our kids will be felt for generations. My heart is broken with this tragedy and my prayers go to Antonio, the kids and her family. Amber was part of our community and family and we all share in this tragic loss. I truly mean it when I say we are here if you all need us.

- I remember Amber from 9th & 10th grade at Broad Run High School in Ashburn, Virginia. I had just moved to Sterling the summer before Freshman year from Alabama and hadn't really met a lot of people yet. When I met Amber on the school bus at the beginning of 9th grade, I realized that she was a very outgoing and friendly person, not to mention very funny. She was always so friendly to EVERYONE she met and had I think, a certain light inside her that shone all of the time. When I heard about what had happend a couple of weeks ago from a mutual High School friend ( via the news article on-line), I was very saddened. It seems that Amber had grown up into a beautiful wife and mother and had a wonderful career and life going for her. Such a shame that she was taken away from so many people that she obviously had such a big impact on. My Prayers and sympathy go out to all of the people she left behind. - I remember Amber from 9th & 10th grade at Broad Run High School in Ashburn, Virginia. I had just moved to Sterling the summer before Freshman year from Alabama and hadn't really met a lot of people yet. When I met Amber on the school bus at the beginning of 9th grade, I realized that she was a very outgoing and friendly person, not to mention very funny. She was always so friendly to EVERYONE she met and had I think, a certain light inside her that shone all of the time. When I heard about what had happend a couple of weeks ago from a mutual High School friend ( via the news article on-line), I was very saddened. It seems that Amber had grown up into a beautiful wife and mother and had a wonderful career and life going for her. Such a shame that she was taken away from so many people that she obviously had such a big impact on. My Prayers and sympathy go out to all of the people she left behind.
