Alfred J. Mazzoli
Alfred John Mazzoli, 87, of Winchester, Virginia, died Tuesday, January 8, 2013, in his home.
Mr. Mazzoli was born in 1925, in Camden, New York, the son of the late Michael and Julia Mazzoli. He was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving during World War II, achieving the rank of Sgt. Mr. Mazzoli was a Turbine Engineer and International Salesman for the company known formerly as DeLaval Steam Turbine Company, Trenton, New Jersey. He retired in 1985 after 35 ½ years of service.
Mr. Mazzoli was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Winchester and a former member of St. Anthony’s of Padua in Hightstown, New Jersey. He was a member of VFW #5700, Hightstown, New Jersey, and American Legion #148, East Windsor, New Jersey. In addition Mr. Mazzoli was a member of the Valley Council 3572 – Knights of Columbus; Robert O. Hickerman, Knights of Columbus; Ancient Order of Hibernians, Winchester as well as, Sons of Italy in Winchester. Mr. Mazzoli was a member of the Senior Citizens Bowling League in Winchester.
He married Helen Ward on August 13, 1950 in Kingston, New York.
Surviving with his wife are four sons, Charles Mazzoli of Winchester, Raymond Mazzoli of Atlantic City, New Jersey, Michael Mazzoli of Winchester, Christopher Mazzoli of East Windsor, New Jersey; three grandchildren; and sister, Molly Manley of Alpharetta, Georgia.
His son, John Mazzoli, two sisters, Susan Consroe and Dolores Cirio and one brother, Edward Mazzoli, preceded him in death.
The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon, from 3:00-5:00 PM, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
A Mass of Christian will be conducted on Wednesday, January 16, 2013, 10:30 AM at St. Anthony’s of Padua, Hightstown, New Jersey. Interment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hightstown, New Jersey, with Military Honors.
