Albert Richard Herter, 84 of Yellow Springs, WV passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2023 at the Spring Arbor Assisted Living Facility.

Bert was born in 1938 in Rome, NY the son of the late Albert Paul and Ruth (Gardiner) Herter. He was predeceased by his older brother William and is survived by his younger brother Charles.

Bert served our country in the United States Army as a chemist at the Yuma Test Station. He retired from the printing industry in the year 2000.

He married Rita Marie Vanderhoof on June 18, 1960 in St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Rome, NY.

Bert was predeceased by his son Richard. He is survived by his children, Gregory, Paula, Douglas, Karen, Matthew, Timothy and Daniel, as well as 31 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 9, 2023 at 11am at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Winchester, VA. Officiating will be Father Bjorn Lundberg.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 W. Cork St, Suite 405, Winchester, VA 22601.

My sincere condolences to the Herter family. I knew Albert for a relatively short time. I visited with him to chat and pray with him and for him. He was truly a sweet man and I will greatly miss him. He departs this life leaving me with wonderful memories of him and I am sure leaving his family with much deeper and loving memories too.
