Albert Creswell Redding
CW3 US Army (Retired) Albert Creswell Redding, 75, of Middletown, Virginia died Wednesday, April 11, 2012, in The Blue Ridge Hospice.
He was born in 1936 in Shepardstown, PA, the son of the late Earl E. and Ada M. Creswell. He was drafted into the US Army in 1959. He was assigned to military posts as a Military Policeman at Fort Sill, OK and Germany. Albert advanced to the rank of CW3 after receiving a Criminal Justice Degree from University of Maryland. He served in the Criminal Investigation Command, with duty assignments at Fort Myer, VA, Fort Belvoir, VA, Carlisle, PA, Korea, Vietnam and Germany. CW3 Redding retired from military service in 1979. After retiring, he was employed as a security professional at PEPCO and at Washington Gas Light Company.
Albert married Ruby Nancy Edwards Redding on February 3, 1965 in Falls Church, Virginia. They lived in Reliance, VA, where they made their home after his retirement in 1995.
Surviving with his wife are three daughters, Pamela Sue Marroquin of Triangle, VA, Karen Elizabeth Loughry of Potomac, MD and Renee Nancy Spiker of Stephens City, VA; a son, Albert C. Redding II of Haymarket, VA; nine grandchildren, five great grandchildren, three sisters and one brother.
Mr. Redding was preceded in death by a daughter, Janet Maci Kinder.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Saturday at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel with Reverend Timothy M. Teates officiating. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park with full military honors afforded by VFW Post 2123.
The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel.
