Adelaide Virginia “Jenny” Shipley, age 84, of Strasburg, formerly of Winchester Virginia, passed away on Saturday, October 31, 2015 at Greenfield Senior Living.

Virginia was born in 1931 in Hanging Rock, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Hugh Thomas and Gladys Rebecca Netherton. She was employed at Rich Products in Winchester as a machine operator for over 20 years, following her retirement she worked for 12 years at Jiffy Sandwich Shoppe. Virginia was a devoted member of Valley Bible Church in Stephens City. Jenny was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many. She will be forever remembered for her love of Bingo, Cross Stitch, Word searches and watching WWE Wrestling. She was also a dedicated baker specializing in her applesauce cakes and peanut butter fudge. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Jenny married Donnell Hugh Shipley on September 14, 1972 in Winchester, Virginia.   He preceded her in death on April 10, 2010.

Surviving are two daughters, Janice F. Lang and her husband, James, of Warrenton, Virginia and Linda S. McClintock of Stephensville, Texas; three grandchildren; Jennifer M. Saulsbury, Janis (Isabel) Carreras and Edward McClintock and six great grandchildren as well as any nieces, nephews, extended family members and many close friends..

In addition to her parents and husband, she was the last of her family to survive as she was preceded in death by four sisters, Geraldine Neverlance, Dorothy Bowles, Inez Armel, and Irene Jenkins and four infant brothers.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 pm at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel.

A funeral service will be conducted at 7:00 pm on Friday immediately following the visitation at Omps, South Chapel with Pastor Calvin Lowder officiating. Private entombment will take place at a later date in Shenandoah Memorial Park Mausoleum.
