A. Florence “Flo” Gelzer
Mrs. A. Florence “Flo” Gelzer, 79, of Frederick County, Virginia died Thursday, September 1, 2016 at The Village at Orchard Ridge.
Mrs. Gelzer was born in 1937 in Moorefield, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Ellis V. and Annie H. Hambleton. She was Vice President of First American Bank of Virginia, retiring in 1996, with more than 18 years of service. Flo enjoyed traveling, having been to Europe, the Bahamas, Central America, and on many Caribbean cruises. She loved collecting shells, gardening, and cooking. Flo was a consummate homemaker and was devoted to her family.
Mrs. Gelzer married Lt. Col Edward DuPont Gelzer, Jr. (USMC, Ret.) on May 7, 1983 in Arlington, Virginia.
Surviving with her husband are daughters, Heidi J. Gelzer (Edward Mortimore) and Louise S. Addison (William); sons, Edward D. Gelzer, III (Donna) and Harvey W. Snyder, III (Zora); brother, Don Hambleton (Cindy) of Winchester, Virginia; grandchildren, Holly, Emily, Hailey, Angala and Erica; and great grandchildren, Madi Brie and Katie.
Mrs. Gelzer was preceded in death by her first husband, Harvey W. Snyder, II and brother, Jim Hambleton.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 8th, from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. at The Chapel at The Village at Orchard Ridge, 400 Clocktower Ridge Drive, Winchester, VA, with Reverend Bill Boldin officiating.
