Elwood W. Eaton, 99, of Frederick County, VA passed away Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at Fox Trail Senior Living.
Mr. Eaton was born in 1917 in Pennsylvania, the son of the late Elson and Ethel Eaton. He was a World War II veteran serving in the United States Navy. Mr. Eaton was a carpenter in residential construction and was very meticulous with his carpentry. He later retired from O’Boyle Truck Lines in 1970. Mr. Eaton loved to read and watch war story movies. Through most of his life he enjoyed hunting. Mr. Eaton was of the Baptist faith.
His wife, Evelyn (DeHaven) Eaton, whom he married on October 22, 1938 in Hagerstown, MD preceded him in death in May 2006.
Surviving are daughters, Phyllis Y. Jobe of Clear Brook, VA, Loretta R. Boyd (Paul) of Gerrardstown, WV, and Jody L. Stewart (Rusty) of Jacksonville, FL; son, Barry A. Eaton of Gainesboro, VA; twelve grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren, and eleven great great grandchildren.
Along with his parents and wife Mr. Eaton was preceded in death by sisters, Louwilda Thompson and Claudine Weaver; brothers, Cordell, Delbert, Bobby, Charles, and Donnie Eaton; and son-in-law, Rodger Jobe.
All services will be private. Arrangements are being handled by Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Street.
