Wayne Houston Caton, 74, of Winchester, VA, passed away on Friday, February 23, 2024, at Blue Ridge Hospice Inpatient Care Center.

Wayne was born in Washington D.C. in 1949, the son of the late Raymond and Joyce Caton. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Radford College and then went on to earn his Masters Degree in Social Work from VCU. Wayne spent his career as a licensed Medical Social Worker and retired from Charlotte Hall Veterans Home. He was a member of the Winchester Masonic Lodge. Wayne loved going metal detecting, fishing and was very passionate about and enjoyed learning about the Civil War. He really enjoyed public speaking and was a journeyman carpenter. Wayne and his wife,
Judie, were High School Sweethearts (Stonewall Jackson High School) and then after 10 years of marriage both decided to go to Radford College together.

He is survived by his wife, Judie, whom he married in 1967, daughter, Beth Ann Taylor (Chuck); son, Steven Mark Caton (Arina); grandchildren, Courtney Summers (Derek), Stephanie Caton-Cauley (Myron), Lindsey Caton; great-grandchildren, Theodore Caton-Cauley, Delaney and a boy on the way; sister, Danita Russell (Mike) and many loving nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, Wayne is preceded in death by his brothers, Stephen, Mark, Gary, and Craig Caton.

A visitation will be held for Wayne on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at 12pm with a service to follow at 1pm, held at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park.
