Renée Irene Gold (née Keller), 83, of Winchester, Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at Winchester Medical Center with her family by her side.
Born in 1941 in Baltimore, Maryland, Renée was the daughter of the late Bernard and Ruth (Aronson) Keller. She attended the University of Miami and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Speech Therapy from California State University, Long Beach.
Renée had a deep love of nature, dogs and a special fondness for birds. She was an avid reader and a passionate traveler who also enjoyed fly fishing, gardening, and playing Mahjong. A gifted cook, she made every family gathering feel warm and memorable.
On October 4, 1960, she married Michael Gold in Miami, Florida. They moved to Fly Creek, NY, near Cooperstown, in 1986 where they built a home surrounded by Renee’s love of nature, her beloved dogs and a passion for American folk art.
Renée is survived by her devoted husband of 64 years, Michael; her daughter, Vicki Gold (Jay Quintin); her son, Kenneth Gold (Sheila); her grandchildren, Hannah Hill (Gordon) and Aaron Gold; great-grandchildren, Bo and Ty Hill; her sisters, Joan Ferrando (Vladimir Melnichenko) and Gail Failla; and nieces Cecile Ferrando and Nina Greene.
A private family gathering will be held in the fall to celebrate Renée’s life.
