Paul Joseph Shinol, 56, of Winchester Virginia, passed away on December 21st, 2025.
Born on August 3rd, 1969 in Rome, New York. Paul was the son of Loretta and the late Henry Shinol. He is preceded in death by his sister Laura.
He grew up the son of an Air Force Officer and lived throughout the east coast. These included locations in New York, New Jersey, Florida, Virginia, and Nebraska before returning to Northern Virginia.
Paul worked in management at PetSmart for over 20 years, where his dedication and leadership made a lasting impact. His pet adoption events inspired the model they use today.
Paul was deeply involved with the local gun club, where he served proudly as Trap Chairman, sharing his passion for the sport and fostering a welcoming environment for fellow enthusiasts.
Beyond his love for shooting sports, Paul cherished the years he spent practicing Taekwondo alongside his family. His dedication to martial arts reflected his commitment to discipline, perseverance, and spending meaningful time with those he loved most and following the motto “the family that kicks together sticks together”. Paul will be remembered for his kindness and his sense of humor.
Paul enjoyed fishing, whether it be striper fishing in Chesapeake Bay, bass fishing in Virginia or Texas, or even fly fishing for trout in Virginia he enjoyed it all. He also enjoyed spending time around on the farm, happy to be away from the crowds.
Paul is survived by his loving wife, Rebecca, by his two daughters, Leah and Megan, by his mother, Loretta, by his brother and sister in law, John and Lorrie, by his nephews Stephen, Andrew, Jacob, Joshua, Caleb, Elijah, Gabriel, Felipe, by his nieces, Alexis, Kayla, Jordynn, Eve, Navy, and Mia.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at 11am with a servcie to follow at 12pm at Myers Durboraw Funeral Home in Taneytown, MD. Interment will be in Mt. St. Marys Cemetery.
