Michael Duvall Strickland, 67, of Stephens City, Virginia, died Friday, February 8, 2013, in Winchester Medical Center.
Mr. Strickland was born in 1945, in Standardsville, Virginia, the son of the late John and Madie V. Taylor. He was a Letter Carrier with the United States Postal Service in Annandale, Virginia. Mr. Strickland was a Veteran having served in the United State Air Force and in the Air Force Honor Guard. He was a member of the American Legion in Annandale, Virginia.
He married Janice Hagstrom on July 14, 1990, in Springfield, Virginia.
Surviving with his wife is his daughter, Lorraine Whilden of Manassas, Virginia; son, Robert Brown of Winchester; nine grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; sister, Debbie Taylor and brother, Gary Taylor both of Charlottesville, Virginia; and numerous nephews and a niece. One brother, Caudell Gibson preceded him in death.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening, from 6:00-8:00 PM, at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Thursday, at Old Macedonia Church Chapel with Reverend Jason Duley officiating. Interment will be in Macedonia Church Cemetery.
