Mary Beth Board, 84 of Winchester, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, November 23, 2025, in Winchester, Virginia.
Mary Beth was born on November 23, 1941 in Glen Jean, WV, the daughter of the late Lester and Elizabeth Woodrum. She was a high school graduate who attended West Virginia Tech in Montgomery, WV. Mary Beth worked as an administrative assistant for various colleges including James Madison University and then went on to retire from Shenandoah University School of Pharmacy. While working at Shenandoah University, she was the faculty member awarded the Algernon Sydney Award for Grace and Humanity in 2002. Mary Beth was a member of Braddock Street United Methodist Church and was a lifelong member of various church choir and very involved in the United Methodist Women’s Prayer group. She was an accomplished pianist and singer who sang with Linda Caley and Sandy Miller for decades in the Winchester Memorial Hospital Follies. Music and raising her children were her life, and she lived and loved openly and abundantly and taught her children to do the same.
Mary Beth is survived by her husband of 61 years, Frederick “Fred” Allen Board whom she married on September 5, 1964; daughter, Andrea Beth Board of Winchester, VA; son, Chadwick “Chad” Alan Board (Hilary) of Laurel, MD; grandchildren, James and Nathan Board of Laurel, MD; and her brother, Lester Raymond “Ray” Woodrum II of Winchester, VA.
A service will be held for Mary Beth on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 11am at Braddock Street United Methodist Church and officiating will be Pastor Jason Duley, with a reception to follow at the church.
