Jerry Lee Howse, 79 of Berryville, passed away on Monday, December 29, 2025, at Winchester Medical Center.
Jerry was born in 1946 in Rosalie, AL, the son of the late James C. House and Dorothy I. Kennedy. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Middle Tennessee State University and went on to earn his Master’s Degree from Oklahoma State University. He served our country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War where he flew Cobra Helicopters and retired as a LTC in the Army National Guard. After his retirement from the military Jerry worked at Mt. Weather until retiring in 2013.
Jerry was a life member of the VFW, American Legion, and the Cairn Terrier Club of America. He was an AKC Licensed Judge and member of the Shawnee Kennel Club, Chattanooga Kennel Club, Potomac Cairn Terrier Club, Norfolk Terrier Club of America, Mid Atlantic Stewards Association and Mason Dixon Judges Association. Jerry was also past President of Rotary Club of Pryor, OK and the Cairn Terrier Club of America. Jerry was a member of Braddock Street United Methodist Church, he participated in the choir and played the handbells in better health.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon whom he married on September 2, 1967; sons, Christopher E. Howse (Melissa) of Virginia Beach, Jonathan M. Howse (Christene) of West Melbourne Beach, FL; 11 grandchildren, 8 in Virginia and 3 in Florida; 4 great-grandchildren; sisters, Phyllis Brown of Griffin, GA, Marlene Bearden of Acworth, GA and Lucretia House of Rossville, Ga and his brother, Jimmy House of Palm Coast, FL.
In addition to his parents, Jerry is preceded in death by a grandson, sister, Daina House and his brother, John House.
A visitation will be held for Jerry on Saturday, January 10, 2026, from 12pm to 2pm with a service to be conducted at 2pm all held at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel. Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
