Kay F. Sellner, 85, of Winchester, Virginia, passed away Thursday, October 19, 2023 at The Willows at Meadow Branch.
Mrs. Sellner was born in 1938 in Washington, D.C., the daughter of the late Oliver T. and Thelma E. Coffin. She graduated from Suitland High School in Suitland, Maryland. After graduation she worked at the CIA until starting her family. She returned to the workforce after 25 years at the Virginia Employment Commission where she retired. Mrs. Sellner was a volunteer at the Winchester Medical Center and a member of First Baptist Church in Winchester. She enjoyed sewing clothes for her family and for those in need along with crafting and collecting thimbles.
She married Gilbert D. Sellner (who preceded her in death in 2018) on May 25, 1957 at Bells United Methodist Church in Camp Springs, Maryland. She was a loving mother to her four daughters: Deborah Kay Long (Kenneth), Laurie A. Sellner, Patricia S. Neff (Todd), and Julie L. Chrismer (David); grandchildren: Christina Long, Joseph Long, Stephanie Freeman, Melanie Denniston, Matthew Chrismer, and Hannah Chrismer; nine great grandchildren; and one great great granddaughter on the way.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 12:30pm to 1:30pm on Thursday, October 26, 2023 at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 1:30pm at the funeral home with Rev. Dr. Kristin Adkins-Whitesides officiating. Interment will be in Mount Hebron Cemetery, Winchester, Virginia.
Serving as pallbearers will be Kenneth Long, Joseph Long, Todd Neff, David Chrismer, Matthew Chrismer, and Cliff Wainwright.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Kay’s memory to First Baptist Church of Winchester Building Fund, 205 W. Piccadilly Street, Winchester, Virginia 22601.
