Joyce Launa Kittrell Turner, 53, of Linden, Virginia, died Friday, December 18, 2015, at Winchester Medical Center.
Mrs. Turner was born in 1962, in Warrenton, Virginia, the daughter of the late James H. and Myra J. Kittrell. She was a graduate of Manassas Park High School in Manassas, Virginia. Mrs. Turner was a retired employee of Genetics and IVF Institute in Fairfax, Virginia.
Joyce was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved to cook for her family and support them in any way she could. It gave her immense satisfaction to babysit her grandchildren while their mother worked. She was a lifelong fan of the Washington Redskins and was downright obsessed with Elton John. She will be greatly missed by anyone who was fortunate enough to know her.
She married Kent Eugene Turner on December 20, 1980, in Manassas, Virginia. Their love never diminished over the 35+ years they were together. In fact, it became stronger every day. Joyce loved affectionately calling Kent her ‘Sweetie Pie’.
Surviving with her husband is her daughter, Amanda Jean Turner of Front Royal, Virginia; son, Andrew Lath Turner of Winchester, Virginia; grandchildren, Alexia, Evelyn and Oakley; sisters, Carolyn Barnes of Colonial Heights, VA and Nancy Kittrell of Montross, Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.
Her brother, Lath Kittrell, preceded her in death.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites Front Royal Blue Ridge Shadows on January 30, 2016 between 2 and 4 pm.
