Joy Elizabeth Harrington Bishop, 77, formerly of Montross, Virginia passed away Saturday, September 29, 2018, at Parkview Medical Center, Pueblo, Colorado.
Mrs. Bishop was born in 1941 in Washington, D.C., the daughter of the late Clyde and Rachel Harrington. She worked for the United States Army as a civilian contractor and later for the Internal Revenue Service. Mrs. Bishop was of the Methodist faith.
Her husband, David Bishop, Sr., preceded her in death in 2001. .
Her name, Joy, says it all…joy is what she gave to everyone. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all; ever so kind, gentle and loving, she loved fiercely. Her family was everything to her. She was the glue that kept them all together. Mrs. Bishop lived life for the Lord and showed that every day with her actions and demeanor. She never wavered, always stood strong and proud. She took on obstacles put before her with ease, because she knew the Lord would help her. Mrs. Bishop was Grandma to all who met her and always made everyone smile.
She will be greatly missed, but will always be loved.
Surviving are her sons, David (Beth) Bishop and Clyde (Brandi) Bishop; grandchildren, Dawson, Natalie, Cassidy, Shelby, Layla and Daulton; and cousins, Mary Porter Hall, William Hall and Elaine Harrington.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 10 am to 11:30 am on Thursday at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel. A funeral service will follow the gathering at 11:30 am with Pastor Mike Mayton officiating. Entombment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park Mausoleum, Winchester, Virginia.
