Jean Elizabeth Moyer, 92, of Winchester, VA, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 2, 2025, at Winchester Medical Center. She will be remembered as a loving and selfless mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who always put others before herself.
Born in Wernersville, PA, in 1933, Jean was the daughter of the late Harvey and Annie Ressler. A graduate of Wernersville High School, Jean was known for her quiet strength, caring nature, and unwavering support for her family. She was a long-time resident of Winchester and a member of First United Methodist Church.
Jean married James D. Moyer in 1952, and they shared 55 years together. He preceded her in death in 2007. Her greatest joy came from time spent with her family and friends. She found happiness in simple moments—playing cards and board games, working on puzzles, and gathering with loved ones.
She is survived by her daughter, Shelly Lee (the late Denny); her sons, Jim Moyer (Fay Dutton) and Pete Moyer (Christi); her grandchildren, Ashley Moyer, Kylea Keagy (Levi), and Grace Nguyen (Zachary); and her great-grandchildren, Isis Layton, Audrey Keagy, and Camila Keagy. Jean was preceded in death by her sister, Shirley Rittel.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, June 9, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel. Pastor Sean Devolites will officiate.
Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Jean to First United Methodist Church, 1824 Roberts St., Winchester, VA 22601 or to Winchester SPCA, 111 Featherbed Lane, Winchester, VA 22601.
