Herta Maria Moore (Tränker), 87, of Frederick County, VA, passed away on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, at The Village at Orchard Ridge.

Born in 1938 in Munich, Germany, Herta was the daughter of the late Max Tränker and Maria Lampl. She spent her early years in Germany before making a brave and life changing journey to the United States in her early twenties. Here, she built a new life—learning a second language, raising a family, and establishing a meaningful career in the banking industry with Burke & Herbert Bank in Old Town Alexandria.

After many years of dedicated service, Herta retired alongside her husband, the late Vernon Alexander Moore. Together, they embraced the sunshine and community of The Villages, Florida, where they enjoyed the fullness of retirement life.

Herta lived with joy and a love for connection. She delighted in playing card games, traveling across the United States, trying her luck at casinos, participating in German clubs, and spending time with those she loved. One of her greatest pleasures was gathering with friends and family, often with a colorful appletini or a cold beer in hand—always ready for conversation, laughter, and companionship.

Her husband, Vernon Alexander Moore, whom she married in September 1984 in Alexandria, VA, preceded her in death in 2016.
Herta is survived by her daughter, Marion Klein; stepdaughter, Verna, and Tom Richards; stepsons, Boone, and Randy Moore; grandchildren, Brittany Gengler, Brenna and Trevor Criste, Clay Klein, and Cody Klein; and step grandchildren, Victoria and Jerry Settle, Meg and Josh LaGrone, and Rebecca and Patrick Cubbage.

In addition to her parents and husband, Herta was preceded in death by her first husband, Rolf Baur, and her sister, Ingrid Raisch.

A private memorial service will be held at The Village at Orchard Ridge at a later date.
