Harvey R. Oliva, 78, of Winchester, Virginia, passed away on January 17, 2026 at his home.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, Winchester, Virginia. Visitation will be at 10 am with a service at 11 am, officiated by Pastor Tom Stevens of Shenandoah Farms Baptist Church, followed by a fellowship luncheon in the Omps Reception Center. The service will be livestreamed.

Harvey was born on April 27, 1947, in Lincoln, Nebraska to the late Emil L. Oliva and Mabel M. (Kalina) Oliva. Harvey graduated from Shelton High School in Nebraska in 1966 and joined the Carpenter’s Union as an apprentice, moving up to Superintendent while working with several construction firms. He then started a 25-year career with the Barton Malow Company in Southfield, Michigan, retiring in 2013 as a Senior Vice President. Harvey also served as a Master Sergeant in the Nebraska Army National Guard for 14 years.

Harvey was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather (Pop-Pop) whose life was defined by love, hard work, and devotion to his family. A true outdoorsman, he found joy in hunting, fishing, and golfing, and some of his best moments were spent sharing those passions with family and friends. Known for his story telling and contagious laugh, he could captivate a room with memories, humor, and wisdom from a life well lived.

Surviving are his wife of 31 years, Leisa Vaught Oliva; daughters, Dana Oliva (Eckhart) Riegel and husband Daryl of Belton, TX; and Denise Oliva Steele of Chicago, IL. Also surviving are grandchildren Emily Eckhart and partner Kurt Morrill of Flatonia, TX; Matthew Eckhart and wife Emma of Houston, TX; Raegan Riegel Woodruff (Hunter); and Hayden Riegel Shaffer (Luke) all of College Station, TX. Great grandchildren Cash Bowen; Mila and Alaina Morrill; and Gemma Rae Woodruff.
