Harry Allan Byram, 89 of Winchester, VA, passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2026, peacefully at his home.
Harry was born in 1936 in Augusta County, VA, the son of the late John and Annie Byram. He proudly served our country during the Korean War in the United States Air Force. Harry retired after 29 years from teaching at Warren County Alternative School. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and anything outdoors. Harry loved watching NASCAR and cheering for his favorite drivers, Jeff Gordon, and Richard Petty. He also enjoyed watching Joel Olsteen. Harry owned a shop that repaired cars from the Winchester Speedway, and he even took a few laps around the track. Harry was known for his love of monkeys.
He is survived by his wife, Janet Louise Byram whom he married on January 6, 1967; daughters, Elizabeth Ann “Libby” Walls, Betty Jean Ritter (Kevin), Kandy Louise Byram; son, Allen Lee Byram (Vickie) and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Harry is preceded in death by Tammy Elaine Long.
A visitation will be held on Friday, February 27, 2026, from 4pm to 6pm with a service the following day, Saturday, February 28, 2026, at 11am all held at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park.
