Genevieve R. Stimmel

Genevieve Reavis Stimmel, 90, of Winchester, Virginia, died Friday, October 28, 2011, at The Willows at Meadow Branch.

Mrs. Stimmel was born in 1921, in Chester, Pennsylvania the daughter of the late Andrew B. and Mildred T. Reavis. She was a retired Chemist from American Viscose, a veteran of the United States Navy, and a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Winchester. Mrs. Stimmel was an avid bridge player, volunteered for several organizations, was a member of the Garden Club and loved to read and travel. She also enjoyed skiing and golf.

Her husband, Ralph L. Stimmel whom she married on August 29, 1959 in Swarthmore, Pennsylvania preceded her in death in 1997.

Surviving are two daughters, Ann S. Davis of Albertville, Alabama, Carol L. Stimmel of Nederland, Colorado; her son, Billy Stimmel of Arlington, Virginia; and two grandchildren, Alex Davis and Jake Stimmel.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Monday, at First Presbyterian Church with Reverend Dr. Richard Reifsnyder officiating. Interment will be private.

The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon, from 1:00 – 3:00 PM, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
