Frederick Lee Rathman
Frederick “Lee” Rathman, 78, of Stephens City, Virginia, died Saturday, June 28, 2014, at his home.
Mr. Rathman was born in 1935, in Winchester, Virginia, the son of the late Frederick and Audry Rathman. He was a graduate of John H. Handley High School, Class of 1954. Lee was a Veteran having served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. Following his time in the service he attended and graduated from Catawaba College in Salisbury, North Carolina, where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in accounting. He was employed by Emmart Oil Company retiring in 1997. He was a devoted member of Bethel Lutheran Church for many years serving as a trustee. Lee was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to many. He will be forever remembered for his dedication to his home his church and his sense of humor.
He married Jeannie Harper on August 6, 2005, in Winchester, Virginia.
His first wife, Susan Larrick Rathman, preceded him in death in 1996.
Surviving with his wife is his son, Brian Rathman and wife, Julie, of Winchester; two step-daughters, Amy Gray and Julie Teets and husband, Greg, all of Stephens City, Virginia; two grandchildren; Brittany and Madi Rathman; five step-grandchildren; Katie, Brandon and Michael Teets and Ella and Andy Gray and sister, Cynthia Noia, and husband, Alan, of Boonsboro, Maryland, as well as many close friends.
He was preceded in death by his son, Ricky Rathman.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, from 6:00-8:00 PM, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
A Memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Saturday, at Bethel Lutheran Church with Pastor David Young officiating. Interment will be private.
