Ernest Carroll Propst, 82 of Stephens City, VA, passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at Winchester Medical Center.

Ernest was born in 1943 in Glen Dale, WV, the son of the late William and Elva Propst. He graduated with his Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Shepherd University. Ernest retired from working in the Federal Government in Logistics. He was a member of Spirit and Word Fellowship Church. Ernest enjoyed hunting and was a member of the Izaak Walton League.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia whom he married on June 15,1968; daughters, Marcia Brackbill (Randy), Mary Blowe (Dennis); grandchildren, Benjamin Brackbill, Garrett Brackbill, Meghan Blowe and Rachael Blowe and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Ernest is preceded in death by his sister, Ruth Royston and his brother, Ralph Propst.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 21, 2026 at 11am at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel.
